Vahan Artsruni is a progressive Armenian artist who, while remaining faithful to musical inheritance, establishes a distinctively new approach. He creates music in a variety of radical contemporary styles, from chamber to art-rock, from electronic, symphonic and choir music to film/theatre and ballet. He has successfully sold out multiple concerts and events in both Western and Eastern hemispheres. He is also widely known for his “Ten Revelations” album (based on Komitas’ poetry), arrangements of sacred and liturgical music of the Assyrian Church of the East and rearrangements and reinterpretations of monophonic hymns-sharakans of St. Mesrop Mashtots (the fifth-century inventor of the Armenian Alphabet) into polyphonic compositions using the latest recording and sampling technologies available.
