Rommel Shamalta

Rommel was born in 1952 in Iran. His musical talents were apparent at an early age of six. At the age of 14, he was performing with various groups and his talents in musical field was known in the musical circles. At the early age of 17, he was performing professionally with noted European bands as lead singer and bass player.
By the age of 20, he had written various musical scores and songs for famous singers in addition to doing work for both radio and TV in Tehran. His musical performances included various appearances at the Imperial Palace.
Rommel's music is unique, and is a drastic departure from traditional Assyrian music recorded in the last 50 years (during his active time). His genius is writhing and especially arranging his own music. He is able to maintain the beloved Assyrian style and transform it to what we call "Modern Assyrian Music".
